Raindrop Technique

On July 19, 20, and 21, 2008, I went to Hendersonville, Tennessee to take an intensive seminar consisting of 25 hours to become trained for the Raindrop Technique.  This involves the use of therapeutic grade essential oils for help with a lot of health problems we are faced with right now in our own lives.  But you can't just use any old essential oils because they won't work.  I use only Young Living Essential Oils because they are the best oils produced on this planet!  They are God's gift of healing to us.

The purpose of the Raindrop Technique is to stimulate every organ, muscle and bone of the body at a cellular level through the oils, boosting the immune system, bringing the body into structural/electrical balance, and enabling the release of toxins or disease wherever they may be lodged--including those illnesses lodged in the mind and emotions.  Raindrop Technique is a non-secular art and science.  Cost of the session that lasts about one hour is $75.00.

Raindrop Technique is most effectively performed in silence.  No music and no talking.  This allows the facilitator (the person giving the treatment) to concentrate and serve as a better channel while allowing the client to interiorize their mind and assist in the healing process.  If talking is necessary (for instructional purposes, for example), it should be done quietly or in a whisper.  Both facilitator and client should engage in Raindrop with an attitude of prayer, acknowledging our Creator as the source of all health and well-being and seeking His guidance at all times.

The client is the principle participant in and the means of their own healing.  The facilitator is but a channel assisting the client to mobilize their own healing powers.  The client should interiorize or center themselves and feel the body as it adjusts and corrects itself.  The client should breathe deeply and in a relaxed fashion.

The maladies of the body and mind are in layers. During any given Raindrop session only those layers the client is ready and willing to release will be released--both physical and emotional.  Negative experiences are often our greatest teachers.  That is the reason we sometimes hold on to them--because we still have something to learn from them.  When the client feels something is ready to be released they can say this affirmation:  "I lovingly and willingly release that which no longer serves me in a positive and progressive way."

Raindrop Technique is a complete modality, in and of itself, that reaches to all levels of the body, mind and emotions.  In general, its results are not improved when additional modalities are added or inserted during a Raindrop session.  The objective of Raindrop is to awaken the receiver's internal healing powers and any external manipulation at the time of the Raindrop session interferes with that objective.  Raindrop Technique alone is sufficient to awaken the self-healing powers of the client and does so in a way that delivers optimal benefit according to the readiness and willingness of the client at the time of treatment.  At the completion of a Raindrop Technique session the client will have been lifted to a delicate state of balance and receptivity to healing energies.  Employing additional modalities at that time can upset that balance and reduce the healing potential.  While acupuncture, allopathy, chiropractic, reflexology and other therapeutic modalities can be enhanced when employed with essential oils, Raindrop Technique is generally best when done by itself.  If needed or desired, other healing modalities can be employed later when the Raindrop Technique has had time to complete its work.

RT stimulates detoxification of the body.  Therefore, it is crucial for the client to drink plenty of water following a therapy session and avoid toxic fluids such as soda pop, coffee, or alcohol.  A good rule to follow is to divide your weight in pounds by two and drink that number of ounces of pure water everyday.  Sometimes the detoxification process results in bodily soreness, headache, sinus drainage, coughing or a rash on the skin.  While unpleasant, these symptoms are temporary and are merely an indication that the technique is working and perhaps, saving you from a much more serious illness at a later time.  If the colon, liver and kidneys are saturated with toxins and unable to function normally, the skin becomes the third organ of excretion--thus a rash.  If that happens, stop using the oils for a while and double your water intake.  For the vast majority of Raindrop clients their experience is a sense of improved wellbeing, relaxation, and energization and, in some cases, chronic ailments have fallen away immediately or have disappeared soon after the session.

RT can lead to permanent healing, but......The correction or healing of maladies will vary widely among clients according to their needs going into the session and their willingness to release what ails them at that time.  Not all problems can be solved in a single session.  A state of ill health is usually the result of many years of accumulation of toxins and traumas--physical, mental and spiritual.  Each RT session can potentially correct something, but to completely return to a state of perfect health may take a series of sessions over time--plus lifestyle changes in terms of diet, exercise, habits and environment.   RT cannot lead to permanent healing unless permanent changes are made by the client to eliminate the factors that led to the ill conditions in the first place.  What RT does is to help cleanse one of the consequences of past negative activities and affords one the opportunity to start afresh and get it right in the present and into the future.

Strong emotional releases can occur with RT since the oils, when inhaled, go directly to the central brain which coordinates the memory of stored emotions.  The oils also go directly to the muscles, tissues and organs throughout the body where emotions can also be stored in cellular memory.  Essential oils can penetrate cellular membranes and release these forgotten emotions.  In rare instances, receivers may have a strong emotional response.  Accept what you are witnessing as a necessary and beneficial healing process for that client.  In such instances, the RT session has provided what the client perceives as a safe environment to allow such expressions to manifest and work themselves out.  The facilitator should keep silent and maintain physical contact.  Allow them to work it out.

The benefits of RT may not all be apparent immediately following the session.  Adjustments can continue throughout the week following.  Some clients experience a healing (occasionally dramatic) immediately upon receiving RT.  However, the completion of the benefits to the client's mind, body, and emotions takes place over a period of hours and days following the session and may not all be evident right away.  Furthermore, some of the benefits may be subtle and not noticed for a while.  What problems the client may have hoped would be corrected may not as yet be healed, thus waiting to be released in a future RT session.  Meanwhile, unexpected healings may occur for chronic problems the client had not even thought of.  One can never predict in advance what benefits RT may bring in a given session.  Therefore, evaluation of the benefits received from RT may take several days to assess.

A word about skin sensitivities.  Therapeutic grade essential oils (such as those from Young Living) are generally safe to apply neat (not diluted) to the skin without unpleasant reactions.  However, people prone to allergies or whose bodies are in acid condition or who have high levels of toxins may react to some oils and can develop a rash from too rapid a detox following RT.  For such individuals, use half the recommended number of drops of oil and apply V6 and/or Valor to the back before applying any essential oil.  For very sensitive people, try RT with just Ortho Ease and only one or two oils.

D. Gary Young developed the Raindrop Technique (RT) based on (1)his research with essential oils as antimicrobial agents, (2) his knowledge of the Vita Flex technique and its reflex points in the feet, and (3) fascinating information on effleurage (finger stroking) and its effect on the muscles and the nervous system, he learned from the Lakota people in South Dakota.

While visiting with the Lakota people, Gary learned that for several generations, before the US/Canadian border was established, the Lakota Indians migrated across the Canadian border into the northern regions of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.  There, they often witnessed the Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis.  Those who were ill or had complicated health problems would stand facing the Aurora Borealis, hold their hands toward the lights, and inhale deeply.  The Lakota believed that when the Aurora Borealis was visible, the air was charged with healing energy, allowing it to pass through their spine and on to other afflicted areas of the body through neurological pathways.  Many experienced dramatic healing effects through this practice.

Eventually, after the border made migrations impossible, the Lakota began to use effleurage, or feathered finger stroking, which became associated with this healing technique.  Additionally, the Lakotas continued their practice of mentally processing energy, coupled with effleurage, to distribute healing energy throughout the body.

Gary Yound found that when this Lakota practice of effleurage was coupled with the energy created by essential oils and Vita Flex, its effects were greatly heightened.  Since it formal adoption in 1989, RT has received an enormous amount of praise from users all over the world for its help with relaxation, emotional release, tissue cleansing and help with spinal misalignments.

In 2001, Dr. David Stewart, PhD, circulated a questionaire to cover 2000 health practioners, massage therapists, aromatherapists and their clients, to gain insight on the results that were accruing from RT.  He received 422 responses summarizing the experiences of some 14,000 RT sessions.  His findings are summarized in his booklet, A Statistical Validation Of Raindrop Technique (which I have a copy of in my office if you would like to read it).  Overall, the 416 respondents who had received RT rated it positive (97%), pleasant (98%), resulted in improved health (89%), and resulted in an improved emotional state (86%).  99.9% of receivers said they would choose to receive RT again.

Another foundation principle behind RT is the idea--now being explored and verified in a number of scientific studies--that some types of spinal misalignment are caused by viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine.  These pathogens create inflammation, which, in turn, contorts and disfugures the spinal column.

RT is a powerful, non-invasive technique utilizing the antiviral, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action of several key essential oils to assist the body in maintaining normal spinal curvature.  During the past 18 years it has helped alleviate or resolve many cases of scoliosis, kyphosis, and chronic back pain and has eliminated the need for back surgery for hundreds of people.

Gary Young incorporated into RT nine of the most potent therapeutic-grade essential oils.  All of these oils have been heavily researched.  They were selected to synergistically combine to sumultaneously kill viral and bacterial pathogens, reduce inflammation, support the immume system, ease respiratory discomfort, relax stressed muscles, curb digestive upset and relieve body and joint discomfort, as well as balance energy, lift the spirit, restore calm and increase the ability to concentrate.

The seven single essential oils used include:

*oregano (origanum compactum)

*thyme (thymus vulgaris)

*basil (ocimum basilicum)

*cypress (cupressus sempervirens)

*wintergreen (gaultheris procumbens)

*marjoram (origanum majorama)

*peppermint (mentha peperita)

In addition, two essential oil blends, Valor and Aroma Seiz are incorporated into RT to further facilitate energy balancing (Valor) and muscle relaxation (Aroma Seiz).

These oils are dispensed like drops of rain from a height of about six inches above the back and feathered and massaged along the vertebrae and back muscles.  Although the entire technique takes from 45-60 minutes to complete, the oils continue to work in the body for up to one week following RT, often with continued re-alignment taking place during this time.

CAUTION:  RT is not a cure-all or a magic bullet.  A healthy balanced body is the result of a well-rounded program of exercise and proper diet.  Health is everything we do, say, hear, see, and eat.  RT is only one tool to help restore balance in the body.  Healthy eating habits and a positive, open mind will also help prepare the body and skin to accept the oils better and more rapidly.
